| Atlantis; myth and science All my life I've been considering Atlantis a possibility, but also a most likely totally distorted myth where the truth were hidden through thousands of years. Most seemed to think the location of such a place must have been in ancient Greece. A thought I never could come to terms with. Why call a place "Atlantis" and place it far off in the eastern Mediterranean sea? I had also heard the theories of how the enormous landmass under the arctic in a far past was a warm place located much closer to the equator and that this could explain the vanishing island. Even me realized this theory put Atlantis in a time maybe far earlier than mankind. I asked myself - would a myth survive even the vast episode of the last major iceage? Last summer I was faced with a new theory that immediatly made me go - YES! This fits so well all my own feelings. One thing about this new theory that most appealed to me were the fact that it did not place Atlantis in a far away well-known high culture area like ancient Greece. I mean, honestly. Don't Greece have enough splendid history without steeling the past from other areas? I sure think so and I am sure there are no proud greek living not agreeing with me. Greece don't need to claim Atlantis to put their country on the historical map. Why then have so many talked about Greece, concerning Atlantis? Of course, it was the well-known greek writer Platon that in modern time spread the story further. But consider this - where did Platon find this story? Not in Greece. He found it elsewere visiting another country were at that time very ancient liberaries had been held and documents of places like Atlantis had been kept. Unfortunatly those libraries were long gone when Platon arrived, but through people either once visiting these libraries or working there he heard the stories. I can't remember now how it came to be he came over the story. But he did. And Platon put all parts he heard down in writing the way he heard it. Facts after facts. And those facts were dead certain. In every way to the size of the island and so on. Buildings, important places and other significant about this great place he noted. The thing is, most translators later on misunderstood what Platon wrote. They translated measurements wrong. Round objects were turned to squares by the modern thinkers. Houses were round in old times, but square in ancient Greece. So when a building's diameter were told it would easily be mistaken for a short and long side of a square building. Little things like that and a whole story is distorted and all the clues to the true origin of this wonderful great nation by the sea is hidden in a mist. When I finally got to read the book loads of little errors from past translators were revealed and new meanings were suggested. Amazing once to me! Cause the most important news in the book is - Atlantis is still here! Well, most of it. I have even walked its lands, as it was vast and powerful. Not anything like most artists like to paint it though, with all those greek colons and marble. But impressive in its time. A time far beoynd our modern times, but not as far as before the iceage. I am now convinced Atlantis was one of the greatest nations in the early ages after our last smaller ice-period, which is said to end about 11.000 years ago. Atlantis might have been of significance about 9-6000 years ago. That is a very long period for us humans and our culturs. Where will our culture be in another 2-3000 years, one might wonder? I'll say no more. If you wish to find out what I know that makes my heart so warm and my mind feel rejoice you have to buy the book, or settle with reading the book's homepage and guess what the truth is from that.
